Opened to the public in 2013, Chocolataria das Flores sells handcrafted products, specialized mainly in chocolate, sweets and cookies. Its products merge several traditional flavors with the typical Port Wine. Among the options offered to its customers are cookies and truffles, hot chocolate and chocolate cream puffs. All of them combined with the taste of Port Wine. Chocolataria das Flores is an extremely interesting proposition, both for a delicious snack with its sweet offer and for a light lunch, through its menus with options such as quiche and lasagna.

On April 25, 1947, Vicente Peres founded the Sical-Coffee Importer Society. A few years later, the Sical Cafeteria took another step, starting to serve coffee by the cup and continues with the transformation of the place into a cultural landmark, enriching its walls, in 1964, with two tile panels by Júlio Resende. In 2017, the master António Bessa, apprentice of Julio Resende, adds to the estate of the house another work. Confeitaria SICAL is currently a modern space with a relaxed atmosphere that complements the sophisticated views of downtown Porto with its own brand coffee. You can go with a refined pastry, varied sandwiches, toasts, natural juices and teas.

The owner’s name is Eugenia and the history of her café is a “funny” one: she worked in a school nearby, but she did not like working there very much. She took care of the children when they were on their break, but while during school hours her work was more quiet. Bored, but still without another job in sight, she found herself forced to find an escape as an excuse to get out of there. One day, while passing through the street of Bonjardim, she saw a shop that was about to wander and thought she could open a café in that space, betting on her homemade dumplings, something she loved to do. And so Geninha appeared, the name by which she was called at school, where she could share her cakes and snacks.

Café Ambrizete home appeared in the 70s and can be said to be part of a range of the oldest houses in the area. The name ‘Ambrizete’ derives from the time of the returnees, the people who returned from the old Portuguese overseas provinces, being the name of an Angolan city at the time. At the beginning, with the theme of a tea room, the space contained sofas for the comfort of its clients and paintings on the walls with the theme ‘Angola’. Of these paintings it is still possible to see part of them under the false ceiling, as well as a stained glass window that is part of the origins of the house. Nowadays, the highlight goes to the games of Santa Casa, to its billiards, to the space outside and to its soup, which never disappoints its clients.
