In this modern tavern, the house specialities are the codfish ‘iscas’ (they consist of pieces of shredded cod fried in wheat flour, seasoned with salt and sometimes pepper and parsley; they have a flattened or spherical irregular shape, if fried in abundant fat and are about 8-12 cm in diameter) with red bean rice, the Porta Dezanove Salad (rucola, lettuce, ox heart tomato, walnuts and cream cheese), the ‘peixinhos da horta’ (deep-fried green beans), the ‘alheira escangalada’ (sautéed meat sausage) with sprouts and fresh mushrooms sautéed with garlic.
