Moreda owes its name to Manuel Francisco Moreda, a former councilor of the Oporto Chamber and member of the Porto Trade Association, who in 1860 opened a fig brandy distillery, which later evolved into the wider trade of wines and white drinks. Moreda has a huge variety of snacks made from shard cake such as nail and garlic shard cake. Noteworthy is the francesinha in Caco cake, a mix between the most typical Porto snack with one of the delights of Madeira. It offers economical lunchtime menus with meat and fish options including soup, bread, dessert and coffee. It is still a great place for group dinners.

As a tribute to his professional career in the Basque country, "Euskalduna" - "Basque" in Basque - was the name chosen by Chef Vasco Coelho Santos, in this project of contemporary author cuisine. Their own production of pastry invites the tasting of sweet treats, such as ‘pão de ló de Ovar’ (similar to sponge cake; this version is wet), marble cake, ‘toucinho do céu’ (traditional dessert from Portugal and Spain, with an intense yellow colour; based on eggs and sugar, it originated in convents, the reason for the collective denomination of conventual sweets of this category; it consists of a kind of cake made with pearl sugar to which ground almonds are sometimes added, sometimes gila jam and finally a large portion of egg yolks.
