O Ernesto is a restaurant that has been in existence since 1938 and specializes in traditional Portuguese food. The name of the restaurant originated in 1968 when Ernesto Pereira, the father of the current owner, buys the place and calls it “The Ernesto”. In 1990, Reinaldo Pereira, his son, became the owner of this same restaurant. After the completion of works and deep remodeling, the space known today is reborn, where the modern decoration blends with the rustic architecture of the building. Portuguese cuisine remains the strong point of this emblematic restaurant in the city, with a varied menu for all tastes, from starters to dessert.
Opened in 2013, it is a bar which opens to the street, with music, concerts and snacks. In the middle of downtown Porto, it tries to bring the street to the street, in this reciprocity of undergoing, experiences and smells. The Rua occupies an old building in the area, with a characteristic interior patio. Inaugurated in 1948 by the Ramos Family. Mr. Artur Ramos has transmitted over the years his knowledge in the making of the famous Tripas (guts). It has already been awarded in the contest “Hoje há Tripas”. The restaurant reopened in 2014 with a renewed image and under new management. It offers experiences of typical Porto flavors, as well as explores Italian cuisine from pasta and risottos. You can also appreciate the most renowned artists in the space, such as exterior “graffiti” of illustrious figures of history (Marques da Silva, Almeida Garrett, D. Pedro IV, Infante D. Henrique and Nicolau Nasoni). It also invites to know the exhibition of photos of the renowned architect Conceição Ferreira, inside the restaurant.
