This partnership was born from a joint desire to ensure the best and fairest practices in the whole process of chocolate processing, valuing the cocoa exploration heritage through the rehabilitation of Roça de Santo António in São Tomé.

In the middle of 2020, in a context of summer and pandemic, the owner missed his native Bahia, its relaxed climate, a place to drink a cold beer, a place to feel at home. He noticed that this feeling was not unique, but of the entire Brazilian community living in the city. It was there that he decided to open the Boteco Pra Começar, according to the Brazilian tradition, to contagion the Invicta with a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. According to them, its beer is “stupidly cold”, its portions are generous and have exclusive recipes from the “Patroa” of ‘dadinho de tapioca’ (tapioca little squares), cream topside, mini kibe, besides the traditional acarajé. They also have executive dinner menus.
If you are looking for a quiet, welcoming place with a family atmosphere, Bamboo Caffé can be part of your choices. To take a break, to relax, to work a little to the computer, to study, to live together, to take a cup of coffee or a drink to regain the forces, or a snack to snuggle – a beef sandwich, some ‘moelas’ (small onion and tomato stew to which chicken or duck gizzards are added), a roasted ‘chouriça’, just to mention some – the Bamboo Caffé represents that type of space. Bamboo Caffé also offers meals, in a fast meals combo with typically Portuguese products, such as ‘alheiras’ (typical Portuguese sausage whose main ingredients may be poultry meat, bread, olive oil, lard, garlic and paprika), sausages, hotdogs and special toasts, having also salads and house combinations. Besides the interior space, there is a small esplanade at the door.
Who enters in Curral dos Petiscos feels that they are entering a rural Portugal. With a rustic decoration, lined with wood, tables and benches also made of wood and with granite elements. In the menu you will also find Portugal, whether in the hot dishes – soup, gizzards, firecrackers, bifanas, cod with cream, sarrabulho porridge, olives, bread – in the appetizers – fried, codfish cakes and patties – and in the desserts – french toast with honey, or mountain cheese with marmalade or jam.
