Peninsular is one of the most emblematic establishments in the city, serving its clients for over 100 years and selling the most varied stationery and graphic arts. Located in a century-old building, it started as a family business and today it remains so, now in the 5th generation. It is a constant process of modernization, always accompanied by rigor and thoughtfulness, synonymous with responsibility and commitment to sustained and solid growth over the years, but without forgetting the roots and the concern to preserve the essence of a century-old house. This is the simple yet effective formula that has allowed Peninsular to continue to be part of its customers’ lives for so many decades.

Founded in 1972, the Esquina Livraria e Papelaria was initially, and with the dimension of neighborhood bookstore, linked to the new book. Over time, the rare, curious and valuable old book has naturally been imposed and is today the main care and interest of this house. As a bookstore they have, as a specialty, books of Art, Genealogy, Regionalism and, most particularly, the old book, that is, the 16th century, 17th century book. They have the privilege of having already passed through their bookshelves the best and rarest books of classic Portuguese literature. They sell but also buy, interested in buying libraries at home or abroad, as well as isolated books of value.

In the middle of old Foz, you will find the pleasant corner that is Papelaria Jomar, a place with a great longevity, with a history of over 60 years. Its current owner, Mr. Lucílio is 86 years old and has been his employee since the age of 16. At this moment it is his daughter who is in charge of this space, where he will find a little of everything: like national and international newspapers and magazines, tobacco, ice cream, stationery, school supplies and toys. That is, you can keep up to date, get a last-minute gift or simply eat an ice cream. You will be well received, with sympathy and attention in a space with a lot of tradition.
