O Melhor Bolo de Chocolate do Mundo (The Best Chocolate Cake in the World) opened in 2011 a small and cozy space in downtown Porto. It all started when Carlos Braz Lopes tried to recreate in his restaurant, former Mercado Santa Clara, a recipe he had tasted in Paris.
The result was not very close to the original, but the success was such that customers who tasted eventually dubbed the creation of “the best chocolate cake in the world”.
Layers of meringue wrapped in french chocolate mousse topped with a chocolate ganache – these are the traits that make this cake a unique experience. No wonder this delight has already reached such distinct points of the globe as Spain, Brazil, Australia and Angola.
Confectionery with a history of 44 years. The owners came from Angola, where they had a confectionery of the same name founded in 1970, and in 1975 opened Nandinha in Porto. It is a family confectionery, which has as its specialty the little cakes with egg puff pastry, the king cake (normal, puff and dried fruit), Hungarian sweets, almonds, brigadeiros, sweet and yarn and its award-winning Berlin balls, among many others. They also make delicious cakes with creative design for all occasions. In addition to the confectionery, they serve lunches, including salads, omelets and hamburgers.
With a tradition of over 20 years, Museu dos Presuntos is already an emblematic restaurant in Porto. With a very comfortable and welcoming space and a very characteristic decoration, it is the ideal place to have some snacks with friends, accompanied by a refreshing sangria or a glass of wine. It also has a great diversity of meat and fish dishes as well as vegetarian dishes. Among other alternatives, we can highlight, for example, Posta à Museu, the Museu’s octopus or pataniscas d’Avó.
