It all started in 1968, when Pedro Guimarães accepted Joaquim Mitnitsky's invitation to work in decoration at his studio, after he graduated in painting in Lisbon. He worked in his atelier for four years and decided to venture out on his own, opening the first shop in Bairro Alto, the Obelisco. In 1976, he opened a shop in Porto, a city that still welcomes him today. Pedro Guimarães is one of the most renowned interior designers and this shop reveals some details of his philosophy. M. Guimarães, Novais & Maia is a century-old hardware store in Porto. Here you can find all kinds of DIY and home related items as well as all types of hardware and flat glass. Over the years, the house has been growing and diversifying its offer, including toiletries and decoration items. With the internationalization of Porto and the growth of the influx of tourists, mainly foreigners, M. Guimarães, Novais & Maia has converted one of its spaces to the promotion and sale of almost exclusively Portuguese products.
