XL arises from an old desire of its owner, Alexandra S. Monteiro, to build a space that reflects her personality and experiences. The search for new things and new designers was one of her priorities, seeking to find a style that represented something fresh in Porto. There is a concern in bridging the gap between classic and modern, combining Scandinavian style, also characterized by simple and functional lines with old styles, such as the 1950s. XL assumes a taste for simplicity of lines, design and of functionality, closely linked to the sometimes chaotic, modern lifestyle, that makes one look for an uncomplicated, elegant and functional home environment.

The creation of Museu do Estuque had two major goals in mind: preservation and dissemination of the Art Stucco heritage, in its specific identity and in the field of decorative arts applied to architecture, in an active way, interacting with the scientific community and the community holder of works, to assume itself as an intervening museum in the cultural area and within society in various aspects, with special emphasis on the historical and social memory of decorative arts and traditional crafts related to architecture. They manufacture and sell plaster articles, home furnishings, as well as conservation and restoration in stucco, stone, tiles, mural painting, stained glass, easel painting.
