Armazém dos Linhos was born in 1905 and has been dedicated since the 1950’s to the production of printed fabrics with traditional Portuguese designs. In 2011 this space was in danger of closing doors, which was the ideal opportunity for the new owners, Filipa and Leonor Pinto Basto, to rewrite the fate of this traditional company. The main idea of the project is to recover the patterns of Alcobaça cheetahs by reproducing old patterns and looking for new and contemporary applications for these fabrics. Armazém dos Linhos also offers a range of national linen and fabrics, as well as its own brand, with a collection of bags, wallets and kitchen, table and home lines.

In this shop, the main vocation is to disclose the work of small creators, essentially Portuguese. Their mentors, a couple who loves to “build dreams”, have tried to pull into this space those who, like them, share the same vision. The project is inserted in a multifunctional space of interaction between that which the creators like and the taste of other people who, like them, appreciate “quality, design, simplicity, creativity”. Besides its brands, 100% Portugal and Mum Who Loves to Sew, you can find other authors who are environmentally conscious and make handmade pieces. There is a great bet on illustration, but also on ceramics, author costume jewellery, and decoration, among others.

M. Guimarães, Novais & Maia is a century-old hardware store in Porto. Here you can find all kinds of DIY and home related items as well as all types of hardware and flat glass. Over the years, the house has been growing and diversifying its offer, including toiletries and decoration items. With the internationalization of Porto and the growth of the influx of tourists, mainly foreigners, M. Guimarães, Novais & Maia has converted one of its spaces to the promotion and sale of almost exclusively Portuguese products. Being an establishment that carries all the weight and centenary knowledge, it has been able to combine tradition with constant growth.
