It already has 16 years in the market and is the only bookstore in the country specializing in poetry and theater. Valter Hugo Mãe called it a “gourmet bookstore” and, in fact, Poetry is a way of being that bets on its own editions as well as on the poetic arts of several Portuguese authors, English literature, Brazilian poetry and small publishers, representing also some of the most important Portuguese and foreign publishers. “Poetry heals, theater is life,” is the epigraph of this independent bookstore, where love for a cause is a source of perseverance. More than a bookstore, Poetria aims to be a “meeting point, for the exchange of information between people and books and for the dissemination of poetry and theater.”

Despite the astonishing success of television, computers, the Internet, and a whole new media paraphernalia, the charm of the text printed in a book continues to appeal to many aficionados, both for its charisma and its potential for collecting.

In our establishment we sell old books in our bookstore valence, but also art and bookbinding editions, making this space a must-see for all who look at the book as a special object.

Preenche Vazios (‘filling voids’) is a tiling workshop where the client can order custom panels, with patterns and phrases to his/her liking, as well as merchandising. It was born with the intention of filling the empty spaces on the façades of houses and buildings in the cities. The project intends to draw attention to the small details that surround us daily, and surprise passers-by with something they were not used to seeing during their journey, assigning small messages from Portuguese poets. Much more than an artistic intervention, the project intends to draw attention to the need to preserve the Portuguese tile heritage which has suffered a progressive loss of tiles in recent years.
