Bücherstube is a bookstore primarily dedicated to the dissemination of the German language and culture. A German family started Bücherstube about 25 years ago as a response to the difficulty of obtaining school books for the German School. When this family returned to Germany, two sisters, former students of the German School, acquired the estate and set up the Bücherstube company in its current location. Since then they have been developing their business in various fields, German books, stationery and other products and services, as well as school books for Portuguese schools. In 2016 they opened a similar space in Lisbon, near the German School.

OpenBox’s fundamental objective is to develop activities focused on integrated personal development. Art therapy is a central pillar of activities designed with a broad audience in mind, from children to the elderly, with intervention also targeting the needy. It aims to create synergies between like-minded entities in order to develop complete, comprehensive and in-depth programs that contribute to the personal growth and enrichment of all participants, regardless of age, race, religion, social background, gender or sexual orientation. Our activities include painting, photography, design, theater, video and creative writing, among others.

Moreira da Costa bookstore was founded in 1902 and is one of the oldest literary bookstores in the country. It is currently owned by a founder’s grandchild and has a collection of old and rare books. It is a historic Porto shop, having received important literary gatherings in the first half of the 20th century. It has an archive of books since the seventeenth century with great emphasis on French books in the area of theology and architecture, among others, featuring a representative collection of the writer Camilo Castelo Branco. Its semicircular interior architecture gives it a unique look while remaining true to the original design.
